University librarians Patricia Herron and Lily Griner and Maker Space Director Preston Tobery donated two 3-D printers and traveled to San Juan del Sur to hold a 3-D printer course with the goal to allow the creation of a business in 3-D printing and training to help sustain the San Juan del Sur Biblioteca through these efforts. Victor Zuniga — who is the System Administrator for Poudre River Public Library District in Ft Collins, Colorado, the sister library to San Juan del Sur Biblioteca — provided the translation for the course and additional training for the automated systems managed in Colorado for all of the Biblioteca’s lending programs.  The 3-D Printer project is one of the first in Nicaragua and is a scalable and replicable project.  Training for business aspects and proficiency in the 3-D Printing aspects are ongoing.
